A Sea of Lights at Tanada Night Festival

Kamogawa is on the Boso Peninsula in Chiba, facing the Pacific Ocean. Come to Kamogawa in October to experience the terraced rice paddies lit up with over three thousand torches and ten thousand LED candles at the Tanada Night Festival.

A Tradition in Step with Nature

The Tanada Night Festival is held at Oyama Senmaida, a working rice field made of over 375 terraced rice paddies tucked into the mountainside. These traditional rice paddies are cultivated almost entirely with rainwater, promoting biodiversity and harmony with nature.

An Enchanting Evening

The festival's field of lights transforms this traditional landscape into a magical moment suspended between the past and present. Enjoy live performances and fill up on fare from the food stalls. Stay until the end to watch fireworks light up the night sky.

How to get there

To get there, it's about a three-hour train ride from Tokyo Station to Awa-Kamogawa Station, and then a shuttle bus. If you are driving to the festival, you may need to park at Kamogawa City General Sports Facility and take the shuttle bus from there.
