The third-highest mountain in the Japanese Northern Alps, the 23-peak Mt. Norikura (3,026 m) straddles the border of Nagano and Gifu prefectures. Kengamine, its tallest peak, is the easiest peak over 3,000 meters to climb in Japan for beginners. Each season awards visitors with breathtaking scenery. Alpine flowers bloom in abundance from early June to mid-August, and stunning autumn foliage reigns from mid-September to the beginning of winter. Discover a wealth of hot springs at the foot of the mountain in Okuhida, one of Japan's best hot spring resort areas.
