Some of Shikoku's best surfing can be found in the town of Kaiyo in the southern part of Tokushima Prefecture . Here the coastline is directly exposed to large Pacific Ocean swells, making for big waves that draw experts and amateurs both locally and from neighboring prefectures.

Barreling down the river mouth

Located in the heart of the scenic Muroto-Anan Quasi-National Park, Kaifu is one popular area where there are excellent breaks and tubes on the mouth of the Kaifu River. Depending on the conditions, this can produce a world-class wave.
