Summer Sonic (Tokyo) サマーソニック(東京)


Multiple venues, multiple stages, featuring rock music mega talents and rising stars

Summer Sonic is a three-day event held each year in August simultaneously in Chiba and Osaka. A rock 'n' roll tradition since 2000, this festival features some of the biggest names in music.

How to Get There

Summer Sonic takes place in both Chiba and Osaka and is accessible by public transportation.

In Chiba, Summer Sonic takes place at ZOZO Marine Stadium and Makuhari Messe . The venue is in an urban location near Kaihin-Makuhari Station and is easily accessible from central Tokyo by train.

Meanwhile, the Osaka venue is the Maishima Sports Island. While there isn't a direct train line to this venue, you can take the train from Osaka to Nishikujo Station and transfer to a bus to Maishima. The trip will take just under an hour.

Major artists from all over the world play the event every year. Bands such as Radiohead, the Foo Fighters, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Cheap Trick, Coldplay, and Beyoncé have played here.

Indie bands from Japan and all over the world are also featured. Summer Sonic has a main stage as well as several small stages set up around the festival grounds.
