A Luxurious Overnight Stay at a 200-Y Old Mansion

Experience the fusion of modern architecture and traditional Japanese sensibilities

Iizuka-tei is a luxurious hotel housed in a 200-year-old mansion in northeast Tochigi Prefecture—the sole National Cultural Tangible Property that has been refurbished into premium accommodation.

Iizuka-tei’s traditional Japanese architecture is integrated with modern furniture in a one-of-a-kind aesthetic combination. Rooms are airy and open, with garden views. Perfect for both short and long stays, Iizuka-tei has English-speaking staff ready to ensure all your needs are met for a pleasant stay.

While you can spend your entire visit in the comfort of your room, Iizuka-tei encourages guests to explore the town as well. The hotel is simply a place to stay, and the traditional hospitality of the local restaurants and other establishments is what makes the experience complete.

From Tokyo Station, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Utsunomiya Station (about 53 minutes). From Utsunomiya Station, take the Utsunomiya Line to Ujiie Station (about 15 minutes), and then take the Kanto bus line to the Minami-Machi bus stop (about 45 mins.).

Contribution to Sustainability

Iizuka-tei, a Registered Tangible Cultural Property, is a 200-year-old traditional Japanese house renovated as a hotel in the town of Nakagawa. In collaboration with local restaurants and farmers, it offers dishes made with local ingredients and agricultural experiences. Local activities such as guided cycling are also available.
