Glamping for a Cause: Mt. Fuji Ecotour Package

Enjoy glamping while promoting sustainability at Japan’s iconic mountain

A trip to Japan wouldn’t be complete without a sight of Mt. Fuji. Step it up even further by participating in an eco-friendly glamping tour right near one of Japan’s holy mountains.

Mt. Fuji Satoyama Vacation & Ecotours takes great pride in Mt. Fuji and the surrounding region, and is dedicated to promoting responsible tourism in the area through community-based ecotourism. You will be in good hands with them, as your English-speaking guide helps you relax and shows you all that the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park has to offer.

On your first day, you will be treated to a local barbeque at your campsite, which offers magnificent views of Mt. Fuji. Unwind how you want on the campgrounds, and a good night’s sleep in your deluxe tent will have you refreshed for day two.

The following day, you will wake up to see a spectacular sunrise before heading out to see the Shiraito Falls. Shiraito literally means “White Threads,” a name that could not be more fitting, as the water flows almost like silk.

After you finish marveling at the waterfalls, you will have your choice of a number of half-day excursions with a focus on cultural and natural preservation. Guests who stay for one night can enjoy half-day itineraries such as e-bike tours or forest walks. Cycling tours explore the nature around Satoyama Village. Guests will have a tasty lunch consisting of regional noodles and visit a local sake brewery. Guests who stay for two or more nights can enjoy even more activities. Learn about the local cuisine inspired by Mt. Fuji through a farm to table course. Or do a photoshoot in a real kimono, visit a local shrine and learn more about the spirituality of Mt. Fuji, and taste local tea and sweets at a confectionery during the Fujinomiya cultural tour. Whichever option you choose, you will be sure to leave with a smile and a deeper understanding of Japan’s fascinating culture.

Access: From Tokyo Station, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Shin-Fuji Station, which takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.   There is a courtesy pick-up service is available from the station.
