【Partners Information】In April, many areas of Japan welcome the best time to see cherry blossoms, and a beautiful scenery unfolds. In Fukushima prefecture's Kitakata and Aizu regions (accessible via the Aizu Railway*), the cherry blossoms are at their best from mid to late April.
Among the most-recommended spots to enjoy the cherry blossoms in this area are the weeping cherry trees along the Nitchusen Memorial Bike and Pedestrian Path in Kitakata, and Tsurugajo Castle in Aizu.
Approximately 1000 weeping cherry trees are planted along the 3km-long Nitchusen Path, making for some breathtaking scenery when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
Tsurugajo Castle is a popular tourist spot throughout the seasons, although the sight of the castle amid cherry blossoms in spring is especially beautiful. Food lovers should also be advised that Kitakata is also renowned for its ramen noodles!
