Firefiles and Irises Beckon Summer at Shirasagi Forest Park

At Shirasagi Forest Park in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture, an annual Iris festival is held in mid-June. In early summer, visitors can observe irises in full bloom at this stunning event. The forest park's wooden walkway was completely renovated in recent years, visitors can walk along the new, clean path and be surrounded by 20,000 irises of about 100 varieties in a beautiful gradation from purple to white.

What's more -  the park's environment is such that is makes the perfect habitat for fireflies - tons of which can be spotted around the flowers during the evening. A whimsical atmosphere is created by these fairy-like insects amidst the serene backdrop.
