New Canada-Japan Flight Routes Introduced for 2024

Travel between Canada in Japan is going to become all the easier in 2024, with several pieces of good news for prospective travellers!

Firstly, Air Canada’s seasonal route between Vancouver-Kansai International Airport has been bumped up to begin on May 1st (previously slated to begin from mid-June). The Vancouver-Kansai route is a seasonal addition to Air Canada’s roster of year-round direct flights to Japan from Canadian cities including Toronto (Narita, Haneda), Vancouver, and Montreal (Narita).

One further piece of good news is Zipair Tokyo Inc., a Tokyo-based discount airline, will be making its first foray into Canada, with a Vancouver-Tokyo route launching from March 2024.  This will mark Zipair as Japan’s first low-cost carrier to fly to and from Canada, offering a much-sought-after budget alternative for those looking to get between Canada and Japan.

These new options will join All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines in bridging Vancouver to Japan via direct flights, along with Air Canada's Vancouver-Narita route. This comes as a welcome addition to this year’s announcement of WestJet introducing a seasonal Calgary-Tokyo route. With more and more options becoming available post-pandemic, it’s becoming easier than ever for Canadians to visit Japan!
