Meander Through a Picturesque Farming Village

Immerse yourself in centuries-old farming and food culture off the beaten path

Experience the Japanese local life like never before at a quaint farming village nestled in the Nagano mountains. During your half-day tour with a local resident arranged by the Chino Tourism Organization, you will have the opportunity to explore all corners of the charming, rustic hamlet bursting with Japanese tradition. In this small hamlet in Chino City, you will be able to witness authentic Japanese village life.
Wander through the shrines worshiping the abundant nature, well-kept Japanese-style gardens, and farmhouses that have been around for centuries. Another feature of the town is the plaster street art decorating the sides of the many storehouses. You can also try your hand at a light farming activity. There’s no need to worry about over-exerting yourself, as the locals make the activities easygoing and fun.
Your tour will be further complemented by a culinary lesson by a local resident who will teach you how to savor the best local flavors in accordance with the season, such as mochi or colorful agar-agar cakes. Finish your tour by sipping some tea with your new local friends as you enjoy the simple pleasures of life together.
