Immerse Yourself in Rural Life with a Vacation House Stay

Relax and explore the life and culture of the Noto Peninsula through interaction with local residents

Cycle along picturesque rice paddies, listen to the fire crackling as you sip green tea, and chat with local residents about what life was like growing up far from the hustle and bustle of the big cities. All of this and more is possible when you visit the Satoyama Marugoto Hotel.

The hotel’s rooms are located in old private homes. While retaining their old-fashioned qualities, the toilets, baths, kitchens, etc. have been renovated to incorporate modern comforts. These rooms are available as vacation house rentals, so you can stay with your family or friends in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Satoyama Marugoto Hotel offers experiences to help you relax in the tranquil countryside and immerse yourself in Japanese traditions. The hotel is located on the Noto Peninsula, which was designated as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the United Nations, and is dedicated to safeguarding agricultural diversity, cultural heritage, and environmental conservation.

Take a guided bicycle tour to see how agricultural sustainability is integral to local life. As you cycle through the village and scenic landscapes, you will be able to chat with local residents and share cultures. You can learn more about Japanese traditions and festivals, and interact with people you might not otherwise have the chance to meet. You can also take part in a Japanese paper-making course, in which you can incorporate flowers you collected along the way into an artistic creation.

After enjoying various activities, return to your accommodation to dine on a delicious meal made with locally sourced ingredients. On a cloudless night, the sky is filled with stars, creating a special scene to end a wonderful day.

To access the Noto Peninsula, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen from Tokyo Station to Kanazawa Station (about 3 hours), then take the Oku-Noto Express Bus from Kanazawa Station and get off at Koizumi bus stop; the hotel is right in front of you. By plane, fly from T okyo Haneda Airport to Noto Satoyama Airport (about 55 minutes), then take the Furusato Taxi (reservation required) to the hotel (about 10 minutes).
