Paraglide Around Mt. Fuji in Shizuoka

Explore the surroundings of Japan’s sacred symbol with an expert instructor

Mt. Fuji is perhaps one  of the most iconic symbols of Japan. It has incredible spiritual, natural, and cultural significance, and is a UNESCO Heritage Site. Many tourists flock from around Japan and abroad in hopes of climbing Japan’s highest mountain during the summer months. However, if you go to Shizuoka Prefecture, you may also have the chance to see Mt. Fuji from a different perspective―high up in the sky.

Join the Sky Asagiri tandem course to paraglide with an expert English-speaking instructor. Participating is simple: book your tour, fill out the registration form, let your guide strap you into your harness, and run until you launch into the air. There will be ample photo opportunities for you during the tour, both in the air and after landing. Beginners are warmly welcome, and after you finish, you will receive an experience certificate to help you cherish your experience even after you leave.

Note that the tour cannot guarantee visibility of Mt. Fuji, especially during the summer months when the air is hazier. For the best chances of being able to see Mt. Fuji, book your paragliding experience in late autumn or winter. Even if you cannot get a good view of Mt. Fuji, you will still see a spectacular view of the Asagiri Plateau and the myriad of dairy farms below you.

Access: From Tokyo Station, take the Shinkansen bullet train to Shin-Fuji Station, which takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes. From Shin-Fuji Station, take the bus to Asagiri Kogen, which takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
