A five-day trip to Hokkaido and Aomori

Where you can enjoy sightseeing experiences related to the Expo's theme

Immerse yourself in Hokkaido’s famous gastronomy, and satiate your appetite with fresh seafood, regional ramen, and more, before moving to a whisky distillery that prioritizes environmentally harmony. Afterwards, travel south to Aomori, and feast your eyes on breathtaking festival floats from the treasured Aomori Nebuta Festival.

Day 1: Fly from Osaka (Kansai International Airport) to Sapporo (New Chitose Airport).

Day 2: Gourmet cuisine in Sapporo and Otaru

Sapporo, the gateway to Hokkaido, is renowned for its exceedingly fresh seafood, Genghis Khan (Mongolian barbecue made with mutton), ramen, soup curry, and other delicacies crafted with ingredients nourished by the prefecture's lands and climate. Otaru, known appropriately as "sushi town," rests along waters abundant in seafood. Here, you can treat yourself to some unforgettable sea urchin, abalone and giant clam dishes.

Day 3: Niseko Distillery JIN. Related to the Expo's theme, "empowering lives."

Niseko, a world-class snow resort with some of Japan's heaviest snowfall, is blessed with high-quality soft water that is unique to the area. Niseko Distillery JIN, inspired by the passionate coexistence of nature and the town of Niseko, began distillation in 2021 with the goal of creating "whisky unique to Niseko." The distillery blends into the surrounding protected forests and invites visitors to enjoy its presence even during the snow-free summer months. Experience the vitality of life-infused whisky, empowering lives with every sip, born from the abundant nature of Hokkaido's Niseko.

Day 4: Learn about the Aomori Nebuta Festival at Nebuta Museum WA-RASSE. Related to the Expo's theme, "connecting lives."

Witness breathtaking Aomori Nebuta Matsuri (festival) floats up close at Nebuta Museum WA-RASSE, a facility that showcases one of the most impressive summer festivals in Japan. The museum exhibits the festival's history and displays images of both the people and city, past and present. As you learn about the changes in festival production techniques, styles, and themes, you will feel the passion of the locals who have protected and nurtured the museum. Be amazed by how the Nebuta floats connect peoples' hearts, and gain insight into how Aomori is sharing the cherished festival with the world. As a festival that connects the vitality of life rooted in Japanese tradition to the modern age, the Aomori Nebuta Festival continues to shine its light on many, conveying the brilliance of life. We invite you to experience this wonderful festival firsthand.
