Like much of Japan, Chugoku is characterized by its stunning nature and eye-catching historical sites. Bordering two oceans, the region is dotted with a number of idyllic seaside communities, and, moving inland, is home to mountainous landscapes, as well as grand deserts. The region also serves as a cultural getaway filled with shrines, temples, and traditional customs.
