Seasonal flowers and views of Mount Fuji at a sightseeing spot not far from central Tokyo

Kanagawa Prefecture

An easy day trip from Tokyo, Azumayama Park in Kanagawa Prefecture is a beautiful hilltop park with majestic 360-degree views of the mountains and ocean.

It is a year-round destination for seasonal flowers, from yellow nanohana blossoms in January and February to cherry blossoms from the end of March to the beginning of April and azaleas from the end of April to the middle of May. Its extensive sloping lawns are popular with families and young people during the holiday seasons.

Make the 20-minute climb up the steps to the observation deck at 136 meters to feel the sea breeze and to enjoy views of Hakone, the famous hot spring area; Tanzawa, an area of beautiful and rich nature; and iconic Mt. Fuji.

On the ocean side on a clear day, you can see Oshima and Hatsushima to the south in Sagami Bay. Binoculars are available for a closer look.
