Immerse yourself in the countryside just beyond Tokyo to see a different side of Japan

Chiba Prefecture

As you travel further away from Tokyo and deeper into its neighbor Chiba Prefecture, you will find the scenery changing from dense cityscapes to charming seaside towns and quiet rural communities. It is here in the hills of southern Chiba where the Heguri Hub was founded, in hopes of sharing with the world a slice of the Japanese satoyama landscapes, which are the unspoiled lands located between the mountain foothills and cultivated farming villages.

The hub is a complex facility that utilizes the re-purposed building of the former Minamiboso Heguri Nursery School, situated in an area that overlooks a landscape of rice paddies and country homes. When the Heguri Hub first opened, it served as a gathering point for cycling clubs. In the summer of 2021, the facility was expanded to include the Heguri Hub Deli and Café, Guesthouse, Solo-Camp Space, and Co-Working Space, in an effort to create a place where people of all different kinds could get together.

Boso Adventure Tours, which offers cycling and cultural excursions in English, is based here as well. You can also enjoy a bento made with locally sourced ingredients, like the Chiba-grown grilled pork and vegetables. This hub has all you need to create your own authentic Japanese countryside experience!

How to get there

From Narita Airport: Take the JR Narita Line limited express train or Narita Express to Chiba Station (about 35 minutes).
By train from Chiba Station: Transfer to the JR Uchibo Line and get off at Iwai Station (about 1 hour 40 minutes). Heguri Hub is a 15-minute taxi ride from Iwai Station.*
By highway bus from Chiba Station: Take the Tateyama Line highway bus from bus stop #21 and get off at the Highway Oasis Furari bus stop (about 1 hour 15 minutes). Heguri Hub is a 10-minute taxi ride from Highway Oasis Furari.*

From Tokyo Station: Take the “Boso Nanohana Go” bus from the Yeasu South Exit bus station and get off at the Highway Oasis Furari bus stop (1 hour 35 minutes). Heguri Hub is a 10-minute taxi ride from Highway Oasis Furari.*
