Shinshu-Iiyama Tourism Bureau
Nanohana Park is a public park where fields of rapeseed blossoms grow next to the Chikuma River, and it is also a well-known sunset spot in Nagano Prefecture. The ideal time for Nanohana sightseeing is around the end of April.
The Nanohana festival is hosted every year at the beginning of May during the Golden Week holiday period.
The "Nozawa Nanohana" variety of rapeseed blossoms that grow here are not the type that is used for rapeseed oil, but are rather used in local delicacies.
Their stems are pickled and sold as snacks at the festival, where you can enjoy the parade, fashion shows, live music, and all kinds of other events that coincide with the bloom of Nanohana blossoms.
How to get there
From Tokyo Station, take the Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet train to Iiyama Station (1 hour 40 minutes). The park is a 20-minute taxi ride from Iiyama Station.
