Located in Nachi-Katsuura Town, on the southeast coast of the Kii Peninsula, the Nanki-Katsuura and Yukawa areas boast 177 of the best natural hot spring sources in Wakayama Prefecture. Their easy access from Kii-Katsuura JR Station and close proximity to each other makes this area ideal for onsen-hopping.

Treat yourself to different varieties of onsen overflowing with beauty and health benefits. Embrace the sensation of freedom and wanderlust in an open-air garden onsen with a view of the Nachi Waterfall or reconnect with the land and the sea in the outdoor onsen inside a natural cave overlooking the waters of the Kii Peninsula. You can enhance your health and ease physical ailments while also revitalizing your skin.

Due to the abundance of hot spring water, “gensen kake-nagashi” onsen are also available. Considered as the true authentic onsen by many, gensen kake-nagashi are onsen with direct and continuous inflow of hot spring water from the ground. You can add many other unique destinations to your onsen-hopping itinerary, including one of the oldest onsen in the Kishu area.

For those uncomfortable with exposing skin in front of others, there are baths that can be reserved for private use. Ashiyu (footbaths), are also scattered throughout Nachi-Katsuura Town, where you can soothe your weary feet for free.
