Travel back in time in Kanazawa

Recommended season

DAY 1

Kanazawa is the place to start your spring trip to experience traditional culture. It takes about 2.5 hours from Osaka and Kyoto by limited express train. First, let's visit Kenrokuen Garden, the symbol of Kanazawa. This garden is one of the three most famous gardens in Japan and took about 180 years to complete. It is very crowded during the cherry blossom spring season. Afterwards, rent a kimono and take a stroll along the Higashi Chaya District, where you can feel the pure Japanese tradition. Enjoy the photogenic atmosphere of the town.

DAY 2

On the second day, you will take the Shinkansen from Kanazawa to Toyama for about 30 minutes and experience the samurai way of life, dressing up in authentic armor including helmets and kimonos, and riding horses. Next, take a relaxing boat ride along the Matsukawa River, famous for its seasonal beauty. Listen to the captain's guide as you pass through the tunnel of cherry blossoms that bloom along both banks of the river, and feel the atmosphere of spring. For lunch, try the famous Masu Sushi. After enjoying shopping for healthy teas and other items at a long-established shop selling traditional Japanese medicines in Toyama City, go to Takaoka. You can make your own sake drinking cups, small plates, and other original castings, which will become souvenirs of your trip.

DAY 2 ANOTHER ROUTE

Go to Takaoka Station. Takaoka is the birthplace of Fujiko F. Fujio, the creator of Japan's national cartoon “Doraemon". A statue of the cartoon character welcomes you at the plaza. You can also drop a letter into a character-shaped post box made of Takaoka copperware, a traditional industry, and send it to your family and friends with a special, cute Doraemon postmark. After that, you will go to Higashi-shinminato Sta. to observe the daytime crab auction. The highlight is the immersive interaction. For lunch, try the crab set meal at the seafood market.

DAY 3

After checking out of the hotel, head to Wakura Onsen on the JR Hanayome Noren, a popular luxury train based on the concept of harmony and beauty. For lunch, indulge in the famous Noto Sushi, made with fresh seafood from Noto. After that, enjoy the unique experience of carving patterns on the lacquer surface and embedding gold leaf and gold powder using traditional techniques under the guidance of a craftsman. In the evening, head to Wakura Onsen to enjoy the coastal scenery.

DAY 4

Move to the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, which is located in the Japan Sea. First, go on a cycling tour along the coast. Listen to the explanations from a guide who is well versed in the nature of Noto Island - the culture that has been passed down from generation to generation, and the unique local cuisine. When you return to Wakura Onsen, relax in the famous hot spring water that has a history of about 1200 years.
