DAY 1

From Shin-Osaka Sta., take the Shinkansen to Okayama (about 50 minutes), and change to the JR Conventional Line to head to Kotohira Sta. (about 1 hour). After checking in at the Kompira Onsen Inn, where you will spend the first night, you will go to Chichibugahama Beach, a photogenic spot where the water surface reflects the sky at dusk, creating a fantastic water mirror. Be sure to visit at the right time.

DAY 2

On the second day, you will visit Kotohiragu Shrine, located halfway up Mt. Zozu, 451 meters above sea level. The approach to the main shrine is famous for its long stone staircase, and you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city as you climb up to the main shrine. After descending the mountain, you can try making Sanuki Udon noodles under the instruction of a craftsman. In the afternoon, take the Nanpu Limited Express train for about an hour on the Dosan Line from Kotohira Sta. to Oboke Sta., where you can enjoy the beauty of the cliff canyon on the Oboke sightseeing boat, visit Iya, famous for the Kazurabashi Bridge in a secluded area, and stay overnight at Iya Hot Springs.

DAY 3

After checking out, go to Oboke Sta., take a taxi, and join a tour of the unexplored areas of Oku-Iya to enjoy the mountain life and natural scenery. In the afternoon, move to Kochi City to visit Kochi Castle and other tourist spots. For dinner, try bonito cooking using straw flames to instantly grill the surface of the bonito. Enjoy the seared bonito prepared by yourself. After that, you will go to an izakaya (Japanese style pub) in the Hirome Market, a food stall-like shopping district with various restaurants. Enjoy drinks and local cuisine.

DAY 4

On the fourth day, take a 40-minute ride on the JR Dosan Line from Kochi Sta. to Omura Shrine Mae Sta., and experience river rafting on a standup paddleboard or SUP! You will be impressed by the beauty of the Niyodo River, which has a reputation for its high clarity and water quality. After that, return to Kochi Sta. and take a sightseeing tour of Katsurahama Beach on "My-Yu Bus". You can see more than 3,000 kinds of plants at the Kochi Prefectural Makino Botanical Garden, located on Mt. Godai. For dinner, you will be served a platter of Kochi's local cuisine, Sawachi dish, including sashimi.

DAY 4 ANOTHER ROUTE

From Kochi Sta., take the JR Dosan Line to go to Nakamura Sta. (about 2 hours). After that, take a taxi (about 30 minutes) to the Shimanto River to experience Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) . From April to May, you can see carp streamers made in the shape of carp. After that, you will board a Shimanto River Yakatabune or private boat, and enjoy the scenery of the Japanese countryside as you float along the calm Shimanto River. For dinner, you will enjoy Kochi's local dish, Sawachi dish.
