Matsushima

Matsushima became the first bay in Japan to be accepted into the international “Most Beautiful Bays in the World” association in 2013, because of her rich culture and tranquil beauty. This is the land which initially left famous haiku poet Matsuo Basho at a loss for words.

Matsushima consists of 260 pine-covered islands rising from the clear waters of the bay. Taking a cruise around the bay allows one to enjoy the view of the islands. From land, the bay can be viewed from the Fukuurabashi Bridge, which leads to Fukuurajima Island for further exploration!
