Stove Train

The Tsugaru Railway takes you to a picturesque view, through a rural landscape that stretches 20.7 kilometres between Tsugaru Goshogawara and Tsugaru Nakazato stations. During the winter season, this train has an old-fashioned potbelly stove, where passengers are kept warm from the cold winter outside. To enjoy the stove train experience, you have to try Surume (grilled dried squid) – a favourful local snack. For just 300 yen, you can have grilled Surume freshly made by the local fisherman that fills the train with a great sense of aroma.

Best time to visit: December to March
