Share the Japan you have captured through four seasons — Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter — across 47 prefectures. Organised by The Embassy of Japan in Singapore, JNTO Singapore, J.CLAIR Singapore, this contest welcomes you to contribute to a shared 60th anniversary celebration!

SpringSpring in Japan is a season of new beginnings! Starting in March and ending in May, this season is often marked with flowering cherry blossoms, plum blossoms, and other colourful blooms.

SummerSummer in Japan is a season of variety. It starts with a rainy season in June, before entering bright and sunny days in July and August. This season is often filled with vibrant festivals, fireworks, and lush greenery!

AutumnFrom September to November, Japan enters into a comfortable and cool autumn. This season often presents shifting colours of red maple leaves and yellow gingko trees.

WinterFrom December to February, winter in Japan is marked by glistening white landscapes, winter festivals, and nighttime illuminations. Some Northern areas can get as cold as -20°C!

Eligibility

Open to all Singapore residents (non‑Japanese passport holders), all skill levels welcome.

Participants under 18 need parental consent.

Winners (or their representatives) must attend the award ceremony in Singapore (tentatively end‑Nov 2026) to receive their prize.

Judging Criteria

Each individual submission will be judged by members in a board committee based on a set of criteria such as relevance to theme, impact, and photography techniques. All judging decisions are final.

FAQ

Q. How many entries can I submit?
A. You may enter as many categories as you like. Up to 3 entries are allowed per category, though all submissions across categories must be different works.
Q. Who can enter?
A. The contest is open to all Singapore residents who do not hold a Japanese passport. Entrants under 18 must have parental consent.
Q. What photo and video formats are accepted?
A. Photos must be in JPEG or PNG format, with a maximum file size of 20MB. Videos must be in .mov or .mp4 format, between 20 seconds and 1 minute, with a maximum file size of 500MB.
Q. How recent does my content need to be?
A. All photos and videos must have been taken in Japan on or after 1 January 2024.
Q. Can I edit my photos or videos?
A. Moderate editing and colour corrections are acceptable. AI-generated content, heavily augmented imagery, and copyrighted background music are not permitted.
Q. When will winners be announced?
A. Winners will be notified by email in early November 2026. The award ceremony is tentatively scheduled for end-November 2026 in Singapore.
Q. What should I take note of when submitting my work?
- A.
- Stock photos, AI-generated images, and any content sourced from the internet are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
- Watermarks, borders, and frames are not acceptable.
- Entries must be original works that have not previously won awards in any other competition.
- Where entries include identifiable individuals, the entrant must obtain prior consent from the subject(s) before submitting.
- Q. What kind of photos and videos will the judges be looking for?
  - A. Entries that best capture the unique character and beauty of Japan’s four seasons will stand out to the judges.
    We especially welcome photos and videos taken outside Japan’s major metropolitan areas (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Aichi, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hyogo).
