Official Rules — Terms & Conditions

1. Organisers and Supporters

The “SJ60 Photo & Video Contest: GO Share Japan Lah!” (hereinafter referred to as “the Photo and Video Contest”) is co-organised (hereinafter referred to as “the Organisers”) by the Embassy of Japan in Singapore (hereinafter referred to as “the Embassy”), Japan National Tourism Organization Singapore Office (hereinafter referred to as “JNTO Singapore”) and The Japan Council of Local Authorities for International Relations, Singapore (hereinafter referred to as “J.CLAIR Singapore”) with support from the following organisations (hereinafter referred to as “Supporters”).

2. Purpose

The Photo and Video Contest seeks to highlight the unique charms and experiences that Japan’s 47 prefectures can offer to international visitors in the following categories.

  Spring

  Summer

  Autumn

  Winter

  Video

3. Who may participate

  The Photo and Video Contest is only open to individuals residing in Singapore who do not hold a Japanese passport (Japanese nationals are not eligible to apply).

  Entrants younger than 18 years old on the date of submission must have parental consent to participate in the Photo and Video Contest.

  All prize winners, or their designated representatives, must be available to receive their prize in person at the award ceremony (tentatively scheduled for end-November).

  Each participant may enter in any number of categories they may like. However, only up to three entries are allowed per category.

  The employees of the Organisers, including their immediate family members are not eligible to participate.

  By submitting the application form, entrants agree to the Terms & Conditions and warrant that their entries and photos comply with all the requirements set out in the Terms & Conditions.

4. How to participate

  To participate in the Photo and Video Contest, please include the following details in the application form:

1.  Personal Details (Name, Nationality, Age, Country of Residence and e-mail address)

2.  Photo/Video File Data (up to 3 entries per category)

3.  Title for each photo/video submission

4.  Date for each photo/video submission

5.  Description for each photo/video submission (additional information about the photo/video submission that explains the context in which the photo/video submission was taken or tells the story behind the photo, minimum 100 characters, maximum 1500 characters)

6.  Location of each photo/video submission

  Each entry consists of a completed application form containing the uploaded photo/video. Submissions will be received via Google Forms. Entrants are required to have a Google account for filling up the application forms and uploading the photo/video data files. Please contact sj60@vivid-creations.biz if you have issues with setting up a Google account.

  Each photo/video submission must comply with the following requirements:

1.  Entries must be submitted online in digital format only. Photos must be in JPEG or PNG format, with a maximum file size of 20MB. Videos must be in .mov or .mp4 format, with a duration between 20 seconds and 1 minute, and a maximum file size of 500MB.

2.  Photos/Videos must be taken by the entrant on or after 1st January 2024 during a trip to Japan. The Organisers may request selected entrants to provide a copy of their passport details and the Japanese immigration entry stamp/air ticket as proof of evidence.

3.  Entries must be original works that have not received any prior awards. Any work that has previously won awards in other competitions is not eligible for submission.

4.  Submitted photos/videos must be the original work of the entrant. Stock photos/footage, AI-generated content, and any media sourced from the internet are strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.

5.  Only moderate editing and colour corrections are acceptable. Photos generated or heavily augmented using artificial intelligence (AI) or photo editing technologies are not acceptable. Only royalty-free or original background music is allowed for the video submission.

6.  By submitting the contents to the Photo and Video Contest, the entrant affirms that he or she has obtained consent from all individuals whose image/video or likeness appears in the photo. Entries containing identifiable faces of a large number of individuals may be excluded from judging at the organiser’s discretion.

7.  Photos/videos that include sculptures, statues, paintings, and other art works will be accepted, as long as they do not constitute copyright infringement or fraud. When photographing the works of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not the main subject or a full-frame close-up of another person’s art.

8.  The submitted work must be an original creation by the entrant in its entirety. By entering the Contest, the entrant represents, acknowledges, and warrants that the submitted work is original, created solely by the entrant, does not infringe any copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy or publicity, or any other intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no third party has any rights, title, claim, or interest in the submitted work.

9.  The Organiser, at its discretion, may request the raw files and metadata of the submitted work to verify their originality, authenticity, and validity.

10. Watermarks are not acceptable. Adding a border or frame around the photo is not acceptable as well.

11. Incomplete or incorrect information may result in disqualification.

5. Confirmation of Submission

Upon successful submission, entrants will see a confirmation message “Your response has been recorded. Please note that only winners will be notified by e-mail by early November. Failure to respond to the e-mail notification within 1 week may result in the selection of an alternate winner. Please make sure emails from sj60@vivid-creations.biz are not in your spam/junk folder.” on the Google Forms and receive a copy of their response via e-mail. If you did not receive any e-mail after submission, or encounter any problems, please e-mail sj60@vivid-creations.biz.

6. Application Deadline

All application forms and files must be sent by 11:59 PM SGT (UTC+08:00), September 13, 2026. If you have any inquiries, please e-mail sj60@vivid-creations.biz.

8. Judging

Each individual submission will be judged by members in a board committee (hereinafter referred to as “the Judges”) based on a set of criteria such as relevance to theme, impact, and photography techniques. (even if the entrant submitted more than one photo, they will be judged individually.)

6 grand prizes and 5 runner-up prizes will be awarded to the selected winners.

Only winners will be notified by e-mail by early November. Failure to respond to the e-mail notification within 1 week may result in the selection of an alternate winner.

9. Contest Prizes

The Judges will select the winning photos and their decisions are final.

Winners will receive one of following prizes at the award ceremony in Singapore (tentatively scheduled for end-November).

Some of the winners will be given the opportunity to make a speech about their winning submission during the award ceremony in Singapore.

The prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and/or non-refundable for cash. Further details will be provided to the winners upon receiving the prizes.

If a prize or any portion thereof is unavailable, the Organisers and Supporters, at their sole discretion, reserve the rights to substitute the affected prize with another prize.

10. Exhibition

The prize-winning submission, including the entrants’ names, submission titles, dates, locations, and descriptions, may be displayed to the public at different events, including but not limited to, an exhibition at Japan Creative Centre.

Prize-winning submissions, including entrants’ names, submission titles, dates, locations, and descriptions may also be published and shared on the Organisers’ and Supporters’ official websites, printed materials, and social media platforms, including but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, and X (previously Twitter).

11. License

By entering the Photo and Video Contest, all entrants grant an irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive license to the Organisers and Supporters, to reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of the entries for non-commercial purposes along with name credited when it is appropriate, in any media now or hereafter known, for no additional compensation, including, but not limited to: Organisers’ exhibition and gallery display; publications in brochures, pamphlets, flyers, and web-based media (such as the Organiser’s website and social media platforms).

12. Disclaimer

The Photo and Video Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Alphabet, Google, Meta, Facebook, Instagram, or X (previously Twitter).

13. Data Privacy

Entrants agree that their personal data, especially name and e-mail address, may be collected, used, and disclosed in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), for the purposes and within the context of the Photo and Video Contest and any other purposes outlined in the Official Rules.

The data may also be used by the Organisers to verify the entrant’s identity, postal address, and contact number or to otherwise verify the entrant’s eligibility to participate in the Photo and Video Contest.

Entrants have the right to access, review, rectify, or cancel any personal data held by the Organisers by writing to the Embassy at sj60@vivid-creations.biz.

Personal data will be used by the Organisers exclusively for the purposes stated herein.

The Organisers reserve the rights to cancel or amend the Photo and Video Contest and the Official Rules alongside the Terms & Conditions at any time without prior notice. Any changes will be announced on the JNTO’s website.
