Diving Destination Akita Prefecture The land of "Namahage"Japanese folklore Demon

About Akita

It is a prefecture located in the Tohoku region of Japan.
Located in the north of Honshu, it faces the Sea of Japan in the west and is surrounded by four prefectures: Aomori in the north, Iwate in the east, Miyagi in the southeast, and Yamagata in the south.
Like much of northern Japan, the prefecture is very cold in the winter season, but much warmer near the Ocean, due to the Tsushima warm current from the South.
The Oga Peninsula is a prominent feature of the coastline of Akita.

Oga Peninsula

Majestic rock Formation

Located on the west part of Akiya prefecture, Oga peninsula is surrounded by different Ocean from rocky shores to the beautiful sandy deach.
The beautiful kandscape was chosen as "100 Landscapes of Japan ".
Altough the area itself may have the image of cold climates due to the image of the rough "Sea of Japan", the Tsushima warm current makes this a warm diving location. The visibility is also said to be stable during the main diving season..
After diving, you can reflesh yourself by enjoying the many Japanese onsen facilities in this area.

The diving is restricted between June and October as the onland weather conditions are unstable during winter to early summer seasons.
