Mt. Oyama (1,252m) is a mountain that belongs to the Tanzawa mountain range. which is in the northwestern part of Kanagawa Prefecture, just outside Tokyo. Oyama is popular with a wide range of hikers because it is relatively easy to traverse, especially if you take the Oyama Cable Car. It goes directly to Oyama Afuri Shrine, a popular pilgrimage site with a history of over 2,000 years. The summit offers a panoramic view of Sagami Bay, and many visitors come in autumn to hike among the vibrant foliage.

Access
Take an express train (on the Odakyu Line) from Shinjuku Station to Isehara Station. It takes about an hour. From there, take a 30-minute bus to the Oyama Cable Car bus stop.
