Snow with Kids

Safety first — skiing and snowboarding for children

A child's first time skiing or snowboarding should be a fun and safe experience. Ensure the kids are secure on the slopes by booking them a lesson. Nearly all Japanese ski areas offer instruction in the basics for children and families in private and group formats. Many major resorts offer these lessons in English, Chinese, and other foreign languages.

Family-oriented resorts around the country provide child-specific attractions such as dedicated lodges, ski trails and "magic carpet" snow escalators up the beginner slope. For children too young to take to the slopes on skis or snowboards, some resorts have sledding and inner tubing activities, and there are indoor daycare centers in some of the resorts for very young ones.
