Admire the weeping plum blossoms against a backdrop of rugged mountains in rural Japan

Mie Prefecture

While already famous for the F1 Japanese Grand Prix, Suzuka City in Mie Prefecture has been captivating the hearts of visitors with an entirely different destination in recent years. Suzuka Forest Garden boasts over 200 carefully pruned weeping plum trees which are complemented beautifully by a mountainous backdrop. Coupled with a natural carpet of fallen flower petals, the garden offers a picturesque photo opportunity. A light-up display illuminating the flowers at night makes the atmosphere even more enchanting.

Typically, the garden opens to the public between late February and mid-March, when the plum blossoms are in full bloom.

How to get there

From Nagoya Station, take the Mie Rapid train to JR Yokkaichi Station (about 30 minutes), or the Kintetsu Limited Express train to Kintetsu Yokkaichi Station (about 30 minutes). From Yokkaichi Station, take a taxi to Suzuka Forest Garden (about 40 minutes).
