Enjoy the spectacular scenery at Nametoko Gorge on a guided hiking tour
Engage all five of your senses as you explore Nametoko Gorge, located in the heart of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. Broadleaf forests echoing with the sounds of wildlife line the paths that descend toward a valley of moss-covered boulders shaped by the river. The meaning behind the gorge’s name is apparent when touching its smooth, bare rocks—“name” means smooth, and “toko” means floor. The hike through the gorge takes approximately three hours, and your guide will point out highlights such as Yukiwanotaki Falls, one of Japan’s "100 most famous waterfalls." At the end of your hike, you’ll be treated to coffee and cake at Nametoko Outdoor Center Mannenso.
