Mount Haguro Pilgrim Experience

Parks Overview Parks Overview

Live like a pilgrim in the scared Dewa Sanzan mountains

Get an understanding of the tradition of mountain worship that originated here centuries ago by staying at a charming pilgrim lodge on Mount Haguro. You will be served purifying shojin ryori, a Buddhist vegetarian cuisine made with local ingredients. Wake to the sound of a conch trumpet calling you to morning prayers.

A stay in shukubo pilgrim lodgings provides an authentic taste of local culture that you won't find in hotels or hot spring inns.
