An overnight guided tour that traces the history of the Izu Peninsula Geopark to today
This two-day overnight tour connects the rich geological history of the Izu Peninsula with the industries that make use of its natural resources. Your specialist guide will explain the geological processes that formed the Toi gold deposit and the Ugusu silica deposit, with a visit to the Toi Kinzan Gold Mine museum. Then you'll visit the uniquely shaped rocks of Cape Kogane, known as The Golden Cape.
On your second day, explore Tago Port, which produces katsuobushi—smoked skipjack tuna, also known as bonito. Learn about the production of this important Japanese staple on a factory tour. You will continue to Futo Beach to see magma formations, and to Muroiwado, the remnants of a quarry.
