Hot Spring
Take a nature walk to observe Hakone's wild birds and flowers followed by a soak in a hot spring
The Hakone Visitor Center introduces visitors to local nature and wildlife. The center is also the starting point of a nature trail that runs through the area's lush forests. Go birdwatching in the Wild Bird Sanctuary Forest, take a dip in a nearby hot spring, or enjoy a picnic in the Flower Plaza. Families with kids can pay a visit to the Children's Plaza.
Hakone Visitor Center
Hakone Visitor Center features exhibits and high-resolution visual panels that give visitors a free introduction to Hakone's flora and fauna. The center also offers information on nearby nature trails and seasonal highlights. Take a break in the lounge and enjoy magnificent views of Lake Ashinoko and the surrounding mountains.
Bird in Wild Bird Sanctuary Forest
Hakone's forests, grasslands and lakes attract a wide variety of wild birds. Visit the bird sanctuary to observe woodpeckers, bush warblers and numerous migratory birds. Birdwatching is particularly good in winter (thanks to the bare trees) and during the breeding season in spring.
Open-air bath with views of Mount Fuji
Hakone has a variety of hot springs, including the milky, sulfur-rich waters of Owakudani, and Kojiri's clear sodium springs. Many hotels offer day tickets to their baths, allowing you to soak at length. Some have open-air baths with good views.
