Guided Forest Bathing and Meditation in Shirataki Forest

Parks Overview Parks Overview

Relax mind and body on a meditative forest walk with a local guide

Shirataki Forest once served as a training ground for shugenja, or ascetic monks, who practiced a form of mountain worship called shugendo. Walking through the sacred forest with a guide, you can reflect on your daily life and reduce stress through practices such as qigong movement meditation, silent meditation, and gentle exercise devised by retreat coordinator Kyoko Hanai, who is well versed in Eastern Medicine. The program is designed to suit each participant's wellness goals, and takes around 3 hours. The forest is about 10 minutes by car from Toba City, or a 15-minute walk from Kintetsu Funatsu Station.
