A short walking course on Mount Yokoyama, taking in several viewpoints overlooking Ago Bay
Yokoyama Visitor Center is the starting point for this short trail on Mount Yokoyama. The visitor center is easy to reach via car, as well as on foot in around 25 minutes from Kintetsu Shima-Yokoyama Station. If the main car park is full, you can use the adjacent Sozo-no-Mori Yokoyama parking lot.
After spending some time at the visitor center learning about Ise-Shima National Park, climb up the small side road to Yokoyama Tenku (Sky View) Cafe Terrace, the first and largest of the route's many excellent viewpoints over sparkling Ago Bay. Continue along the shaded forest path, and you'll come to the Soyokaze Terrace, Miharashi and Ago Bay viewpoints, all smaller and less crowded than Yokoyama Tenku (Sky View) Cafe Terrace. Miharashi offers the highest and most expansive views, which are even lovelier in summer because of the azaleas blooming on the mountainside.
Turn left after Yokoyama Observatory and follow the path down to Shirafu Hiroba, a pleasant grass expanse. From here, you can follow the signs back toward Yokoyama Tenku (Sky View) Cafe Terrace and the visitor center, enjoying the views of the bay to your right.
