Rebun Island, the “floating island of flowers,” is Japan’s northernmost island. On this miraculous island, cold climate alpine plants bloom in full near the shore, and you can enjoy their beauty while an expert guide tells you all about them.
Cold climate alpine plants can only survive at altitudes of 2,000 meters or more on the main island of Honshu, and even on Hokkaido, only at 1,500 meters or more above sea level. On Rebun Island, however, they can be seen in full bloom near the shoreline. Enjoy the beauty of this miraculous island as an expert guide tells you all about it. Approximately 300 species of alpine plants, which bloom in waves from spring to fall, await your visit. Wireless tour guide receivers will be provided, ensuring you won’t have to strain your ears to hear what your guide is saying. Magnifying glasses will also be provided so you can see the island’s tiny but beautiful flowers in detail. Finally, participants will be given a booklet on local flowers. We look forward to welcoming you to flower trekking on Rebun Island, where you'll find Japan’s northernmost island is surprisingly full of color and life.
