Walk on Drift Ice

Parks Overview Parks Overview

A unique opportunity to walk and even float amongst the ice floes

Wearing a protective suit over your clothes to stay warm and dry, you can walk on the drift ice that flows towards the Shiretoko Peninsula across the Sea of Okhotsk each winter. Experienced local guides will lead you safely across the drift ice around Utoro. You can lie down on the floating ice, or even take a quick dip in the freezing sea for a truly immersive experience. There is no need to be able to swim as the dry suits ensure you stay afloat.
