Watching the Salmon Swim Upstream

Parks Overview Parks Overview

See nature in motion as schools of salmon swim home

In autumn in Shiretoko, schools of salmon swarm back into the river where they were born after maturing in the open sea. This observational experience includes a guide's educational commentary on the relationship between salmon and trout and the rivers of Shiretoko National Park. You'll be moved by the sight of these salmon risking their lives to return to their home.
