Visit Nita Pass: The Highlight of Unzen

Parks Overview Parks Overview

Travel up the Unzen Ropeway from Nita Pass and see breathtaking panoramic views from Mount Myoken

Get a bird’s-eye view of Nita Pass as you ascend Mount Myoken via the Unzen ropeway. See spectacular scenery in the mountain pass each season, from blazing autumn foliage and frozen rime ice-covered trees in winter to lush summer greenery and colorful Miyama Kirishima azaleas in spring. Visit the 250-year-old Myoken Shrine and see panoramic views of the surrounding islands and mountains, including Mount Heisei Shinzan—Nagasaki’s tallest and newest mountain—formed by volcanic activity from 1990 to 1996. A special nighttime tour of the area’s attractions led by a knowledgeable guide is also available on a seasonal basis.
