Make a traditional local snack using a 130-year-old method
Make yusenpei wafers, a simple, local snack made using flour, eggs, sugar and baking soda mixed with hot-spring water from Mount Fugen. You will learn about the history of these wafers, which were created for Viscount Matsudaira, a former feudal lord of Shimabara.
Follow cooking methods that haven’t changed for 130 years, cooking the wafers in traditional, individual metal molds, each weighing three kilograms.
