Enjoy an interactive performance with a professional geisha in Hakone Town

Everyone is welcome to Furatto GEISHA, an interactive performance by real geisha carrying on generations of heritage and tradition. In fact, geisha are still thriving in Hakone Town, thanks to the long-running Yumoto Kenban, the geisha training center and headquarters of the local geisha association. A trip there will be an unforgettable experience into traditional Japanese culture. 

The family-friendly experience takes place in the Yumoto Kenban itself, which was renovated and now features tatami benches and is beautifully furnished with drop curtains crafted out of obi (kimono sashes). You will enjoy a wonderful geisha show which includes games and artistic dances as well as the opportunity to chat with the geisha performer. The show is also photo-friendly, so you can take a commemorative picture with her to show off to your friends and family.

In addition, the Yumoto Kenban offers a wealth of informational writings and videos to learn more about Japan’s exemplary artists. Through these materials, you can get a backstage view into their lives and even see how they apply their iconic makeup and put on their kimono.

Hakone Town within Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park is located in Kanagawa Prefecture, which neighbors Tokyo, and makes a fantastic addition to any itinerary.

Access: From Tokyo Station, take the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen to Odawara Station (about 30 minutes), then transfer to the Hakonetozan Line for the train to Hakone-Yumoto Station (about 15 minutes).
