If you could have an “Anywhere Door” which could take you anywhere in the world, where would you want to go? How about visiting Japan to see Doraemon and his friends?
Doraemon, a popular Japanese manga, drawn by Fujiko F. Fujio, is loved by people all over the world since it first appeared in 1970.
The Fujiko F. Fujio Museum, located in Kawasaki city, nearby Tokyo, is the only museum in the world to store and exhibit original illustrations of Fujiko’s manga, such as Doraemon. (Note that the museum requires advance reservations to enter.)
Many valuable manuscripts and original first drafts at the museum are a must-see to feel the author’s enthusiasm for the manga. The museum allows for plenty of opportunities to enter the world of Fujiko’s artworks, such as viewing a reconstructed model of Nobita’s house (Nobita is the main character of the series), a short animation that you can only see at this museum, and a manga corner to relax and read comics.
The Rooftop Playground is designed based off the playground where the characters in the series gather, making it a popular photo spot. As mentioned in the beginning, you can find an “Anywhere Door” there, which is one of the most famous secret gadgets in the show. If you go, please go through the door! If you get hungry, it is recommended to try food that relates to Fujiko’s artworks at a cafe in the museum. There’s a “Memory Bread” French toast you can try there!
Why not add a visit to a museum filled with charms of Doraemon and other characters to your next trip?
