Savor Fine Craft Beer in a Mountain Village
This brewery and taproom uses pure spring water from one of the most pristine river systems in Japan
The Blue Brew Taproom offers a delicious craft beer experience amid the beautiful mountains of Shikoku Island. Japanese-American founder Ken Mukai had more than fifteen years of craft brewing experience when he arrived in rural town of Niyodogawa, and his dedication has made the brewery a beloved fixture in the local community.
Malty, hoppy, spicy, fruity—Blue Brew has a beer to suit every palate. All are brewed with earth-filtered spring water from the Niyodo River system, which has some of the most pristine streams in Japan. Fruits and spices are obtained locally where possible, as are the ingredients for the taproom’s dining menu.
The surrounding scenery is spectacular, with a tributary of the Niyodo River flowing right by the taproom. Blue Brew does its part to protect this natural beauty, joining community cleanup days and adopting sustainable wastewater treatment methods. Drop by and relax with an ice-cold craft beer amid the best rural Japan has to offer.
Access: Fly from Haneda Airport to Kochi Airport (about one hour and 30 minutes).
Drive from the airport to the brewery (about 90 minutes).
