AOMORI: OIRASE GORGE ~ NATURE WALK ~

Nature walk Oirase Gorge

A guided small-group tour of the pristine mountain streams, waterfalls, flowing rapids and lush forest of Tohoku's most photographed natural highlight.

This guided nature walk follows a 2.7km stretch of the scenic Oirase Gorge in Southern Aomori Prefecture. An expert nature guide will accompany visitors in a small group, sharing in-depth knowledge of the local environment and touching on topics such as the local fauna, history and geology. While the course would usually take visitors around an hour to complete on their own, this 'nature rambling' style nature walk covers the same distance in a leisurely three hours; allowing time for visitors to fully absorb the rich natural environment of rare mosses and ferns, as well as ancient trees, waterfalls and flowing rapids. Discover why this beautiful gorge has been designated as a natural treasure of Japan and has become one of the most photographed destinations in the entire Tohoku region.
