Explore the flavours and culture of Japan's biggest producer of hops!
The craft beer industry is experiencing a boom in popularity around the world, and Japan is no exception. For something different, put down the sake bottle and instead join a guided tour of Japan’s largest producer of hops – Tono City in Iwate Prefecture. In recent years, many young locals and craft beer enthusiasts from around the region have come together to boost the local hops-production industry, in turn revitalizing the economy and population of the town. Experience their success for yourself on one of the available 'beer experience' tour programs. A local guide will take you on a private taxi tour, where you’ll not only have the chance to meet and chat with local farmers and brewers, but also share a 'Kampai!' (Cheers!) over a cold glass (or two) of local craft-beer! The tour includes visits to two local craft beer breweries, as well as experience harvesting and tasting 'padron', a locally grown vegetable and Tono specialty beer snack!
