One of Kanazawa’s charms is that the old and the new coexist; Kanazawa is composed of a symphonic blend of 400-year-old traditions and culture alongside modern art and architecture.

But did you know Kanazawa is also a city of music? From the classical music festival featuring top musicians around the world in May and the a cappella concerts in August, to the jazz event in September, visitors can enjoy live outdoor performances throughout Kanazawa around the year.

The Kanazawa Phonograph Museum boasts a collection of more than 600 phonographs and about 40,000 records. Thanks to Thomas Edison, the veritable king of invention, mankind can reproduce sounds which could previously only be heard once. We can now play music from around the world using our phones.

This museum offers visitors the unique and profound experience of listening and comparing analog sounds that people actually listened to over 100 years ago, including using the phonograph Edison himself worked on. A visit to this journey of sound will make your trip truly unforgettable.
