Turn Back the Clock in Saga

Immerse yourself in a rustic farmhouse experience

Need some real peace and quiet? Make your way to Guza, a farmhouse in the mountains of Saga Prefecture. You won't just be leaving behind the hustle and bustle of the city—you'll feel as if you've traveled back in time to the Japan of the past.

You won't find anything fancy here, and that's the beauty of it. The rooms are floored with bamboo tatami mats and the futons are plenty comfortable, there's no doubt about that. The baths, however, are wood-fired, as is the traditional kamado oven where the owners will prepare your two included meals—a feast of fresh produce and other local delights. Truly, there's nothing quite like life on the farm!

This rustic getaway is a nature lovers' dream. Here, you're welcome—and encouraged—to explore the mountains, fish for your next big catch, or take a dip in the river to cool off on a summer's day—the choice is yours, and you can't go wrong. Step outside, take a deep breath of fresh mountain air, and follow your heart to true relaxation.

Guza is 40-45 minutes by car from central Fukuoka or Saga. If you are taking a bus from Saga Station, be sure to let them know.
