Akan-Mashu National Park

Akankohan National Ski Area

A world-class ski resort with views of Lake Akan and Mount Oakan

Akankohan National Ski Area is suitable for skiers and snowboarders of all ages and levels, and has stunning views of Lake Akan and Mount Oakan from the slopes.

If you are an advanced skier, challenge yourself on the slalom course, where the International Ski Federation holds their annual slalom competition. For snowboarders, there is a dedicated boarding area with a wide variety of jumps, rails and boxes. The kid’s park is perfect for those with young children.

The lifts operate from mid-December to early April, but Akankohan National Ski Area is also a great place to enjoy the scenery in spring, summer and fall. It is the starting point for the trail to Mount Hakuto's observatory, and the slopes are covered in wildflowers in spring and early summer.
