A world-class winter resort with views of Lake Akan and Mount Oakan
Set against the beautiful backdrop of Lake Akan and Mount Oakan, Akankohan National Ski Area's excellent facilities make it a great destination for both skiers and snowboarders of all ages and levels.
The kid’s park is perfect for those with very young children, and for older skiers, there are also ski runs suitable for all abilities. If you are an advanced skier, challenge yourself on the slalom course, widely considered to be the most difficult in Japan. It was chosen by the International Ski Federation as the location of their annual slalom competition.
Snowboarders are also in luck, thanks to a dedicated boarding area with a wide variety of jumps, rails and boxes. Refuel at the resort’s restaurant and cafe, conveniently located within the resort to maximize your time on the slopes. The resort is open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from mid-December to early April, but it is also a great spot to enjoy the scenery during the summer months.
