Enjoy panoramic views over Lake Kussharo at the trailhead to Mount Mokoto

From the Highland Koshimizu 725 rest house observation deck, located at an elevation of 725 meters, you will get an impressive panorama of eastern Hokkaido's breathtaking natural scenery. Take in views of Lake Kussharo, the Wakoto Peninsula, Mount Io, the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko mountain range. If you stroll down the walking path near the rest house, you can see a sweeping view of Lake Kussharo in its entirety.

Highland Koshimizu 725 serves as the trailhead for climbing Mount Mokoto (starting from the mountain's Eighth Station). The hike is relatively gentle, and even inexperienced hikers can reach the summit in about one hour.
