From the rest house situated at an elevation of 725 meters on the side of Mt. Mokoto, you will get an impressive 365-degree panorama of eastern Hokkaido's breathtaking natural scenery, including a glimpse of the Sea of Okhotsk, Shiretoko Mountain Range, Lake Kussharo, Kawayu's Mt. Iwosan, and the Wakoto Peninsula. If you stroll down the walking path nearby, you can also see a sweeping view of Lake Kussharo in its entirety. Highland Koshimizu 725 serves as the trailhead for climbing Mt. Mokoto. The hike is gentle, and even inexperienced hikers can reach the summit in about one hour.
