An unrivalled view of Lake Mashu
The Lake Mashu Rest House, located at Lake Mashu Observatory 1, provides panoramic views of Lake Mashu and the surrounding area. Lake Mashu is renowned for a mysterious fog that floats above the water, as well as dramatic changes in its appearance when the color of the lake, known as the "Mashu Blue," intensifies according to season and time of day. Beyond Lake Mashu lies Mount Shari, with Mount Oakan and the Kussharo caldera on the opposite side of the lake.
After taking in the view, try local delicacies such as handmade imodango (potato dumplings) or “Mashu Blue” soft-serve ice cream.
