A mountain-top rest area with access to hiking trails
Makinoto Pass Rest House is located 1,333 meters above sea level and serves as the main trailhead for hikes in the Kuju mountain range, such as Mount Nakadake and Mount Kuju. It is easily accessible by car and is also a major rest stop on the Yamanami Highway.
At the rest house, visitors will find a souvenir shop selling gifts and mountaineering supplies, as well as a cafe corner offering hot beverages and local blueberry juice. There is a short walking trail nearby that offers an easy trek through alpine flora to an observatory.
